When to use this:
- When you are requesting changes or adjustment to any current Sifchain process, procedure, tokenomics, or core protocol features. Examples include:
- Request for adjusting anything outlined in these governance processes.
- Request for a DAO member/s to be removed or added to a DAO council.
- Request for a specific DAO-council rule or process to be adjusted.
- Request for changing reward structures or programs for Staking, delegating, or Liquidity Providing.
- Request for tokenomics to be adjusted (minting/burning mechanisms).
Steps to make a proposal:
- Ideation: a member of Sifcore or the Sifchain community drafts a one-pager about the proposal, including the goals, details, and relevant needs. Then template for this is as follows:
- First-pass feedback: the member who drafted the one-pager holds one-on-one conversations with any existing stakeholders and new volunteers to get feedback on the draft
- Formal proposal: the proposing member uses first-pass feedback to evolve the one-pager into a Proposal to SifDAO.
- Community discussion: the Proposal is shared with the community and a one-week Discussion Period begins. This includes:
-
- Submitting the proposal in Sifchain’s Commonwealth as a new discussion item.
-
- Bringing attention to that proposal in the Sifchain Discord> dao-chat channel. This may result in a sub-thread on discord as well.
- Proposal vote: at the end of the Discussion Period, the proposal is put to a vote. A decision needs to be made on which voting mechanism should be used:
- a) If the vote needs to have multiple, variable options:
- Manual send tx vote w/ memo field. Approval from the Sifcore will be needed for this as it does require engineering effort to tally these votes.
- Built into the UI vote. Approval from the Sifcore team will be needed for this as it does require engineering effort to tally these votes.
- b) Standard Cosmos On-Chain governance mechanism. See above on the directions on how to raise this proposal.
- c) Discord emoji vote. See above on the directions of when and how to raise this vote.
- Execution: Depending on what the vote is for (a rule/process change, DAO council member removal/addition, etc), the execution of the task will be handed over to Sifcore to implement this in a reasonable timeframe.
